I've been dealing with crappy home problems and travel, so I'm taking a bit of comic time off this September on Crow Time and Namesake so I can survive juggling this many plates. The next two updates are these notebook sketches! Here is the first!

I'm been drawing a ton of little Emma and Ozma illustrations in my notebooks for fun. I'm bringing back the Oz scepter from the John R. Neill classic illustrations. Ozma was always assigned a role, and the scepter and magic belt are two items that feel regal and a bit restrictive, so it fits her current feelings.

I love the look of the shopkeeper. In these early sketches the hair looks like antennas a bit, but I felt making them too antenna-like would have people assume she's a shadow, so it's a bit softer in the actual comic pages.
